Lois Memorial

On September 24, 2018, my wife Lois died, after a four-year battle with cancer.

The Sunday after her passing, we had an open house. Lois’ sister Janice supervised the food. Lori, her husband Mark, Lois’ friends from Master Gardeners and Tax Aide, and our neighbors helped out.

We prepared a slide show, and put it on the living room television. Please click here to scroll through it. Lois_slide_show.

  1. John, your “Eggnog Boat” Christmas card was lovely to receive this Christmas Eve . . . thank you! And thank you for sharing your slideshow of dear Lois.

  2. Lois, such a lovely lady, clearly lived her life with gentle grace. Wherever she lived, it was always a brighter, greener, better place to be. Every time I spot a pansy blooming, I think of her pansies in Memphis. Her love of wildlife and gardening in Washington is an inspiration. Like my mother, I will always see her in the tiniest wildflower that seeks opportunity in a small bit of sunshine that dances through the trees. This quiet optimism, perhaps, from her Tennessee roots, keeping on the sunny side of life. She will live in my heart forever and I will miss her.

  3. Thank you for sharing this slideshow with me. I always loved Lois’ smile and laughter and these photos remind me of how much I loved her and the times we worked and then traveled together!

    • I’m really glad you got to see the slide show. I had to pick among many photos taken on the trips you and Lois and friends took together. Very hard choices, because Lois so enjoyed those trips. She always looked so happy.
